I thoroughly enjoyed Paula's recent presentation to our female leaders at Bankwest. Sport is an integral part of the Australian culture as well as corporate entertaining. Paula shared some great insights into some of the leadership learnings we can take from sport. It was an enjoyable way to gain a healthy knowledge and appetite for sport, and that understanding can give you the edge when it comes to effective corporate hospitality, creating quality time with clients and leaving a lasting, positive impression. Vittoria Shortt, Chief Executive, Retail Banking, Bankwest
Hosting clients at sporting events is a key part of my role. Having not played AFL or rugby, Know The Game's workshops have brought me up to speed. To have clarity on the details of the game has meant hosting clients at sporting events has been more enjoyable and helped facilitate building a strong rapport with my clients by enabling me to talk about the game and the latest sporting headlines. I'd recommend Know The Game for all client facing teams - to give you the edge in client entertainment and client development. Christopher McManamon, State Manager NSW & ACT, HOSTPLUS
Paula is passionate about rugby. Her knowledge of the game is extensive and she presents as highly capable in explaining the more intricate elements of the game. Her workshop material is thorough, accurate and presented in an easy to understand manner. We actively support the growth of rugby in our community and applaud Know The Game in its efforts to contribute to the game's growth. Rosemary Towner, National Player Development Manager, Rugby Union Players' Association
Paula's efforts to build people's knowledge and understanding of the game of Australian football (AFL) has resulted in new memberships for some AFL clubs and the introduction of children to the NAB AFL Auskick Program. Her programs are making a difference at a practical, grass roots level. Nick Hatzoglou, Advisor - Multicultural Sport, Red Elephant Projects (formerly Coordinator of the AFL Multicultural Program)
We recently had the pleasure of having Paula Ward from Know The Game present to our Bankwest Women in Leadership Forum. In a very entertaining and engaging presentation, Paula stretched our thinking by using sport to provide a new perspective by which to consider career success and our role as a leader. She also provided tangible action points which could be directly applied by our colleagues in our working environment. Paula is very knowledgeable about sport and organisational life (which some may say is a sport in itself) and was able to combine the two to great effect. We recommend Paula as a key note presenter. Belinda Harding, Chief Executive, HR & Corporate Affairs, Bankwest
Paula is an extremely capable and knowledgeable speaker, who provided a top presentation to our business women's network. Her topic is unique: How to utilise knowledge of sport to benefit your career/business in Australia. She also showed some interesting lessons from the sporting world that can be applied to achieve success in business. We all thoroughly enjoyed her interactive talk and I believe anyone would be lucky to have her share her deep experience in business and sport, and her enthusiasm for the topic. Rinske Geerlings, Former President, Business & Professional Women, Sydney
Paula Ward hosted a Spring Carnival champagne lunch in our office for a select group of key clients. The session was entertaining, informative and pitched to enable a relaxed, interactive forum. The client feedback was overwhelmingly positive and we would recommend Paula and Know The Game for a unique client entertainment experience which made our clients feel valued and engaged with our team. Vicki Hart, Managing Director, Milan Partners
Recently I attended the AFL session - Paula's passion and knowledge of the game made for an engaging evening right from the first moments. Intimate and inclusive - no question was too stupid. I certainly left enthusiastic to see and understand an AFL game. Catherine Davidson, Director, CDMS
As a business owner in Australia, a deep knowledge and love of sport can help form part of the essential communication bond with clients and colleagues alike. I realised I did not know enough about the intricacies of many sporting events to engage in anything greater than a superficial conversation. I was the guy who nodded 'yeah' when asked about anything sport. So, I attended a workshop 'Cricket: The Fundamentals & The Ashes' presented by Paula Ward from Know The Game. Paula has an infectious love of all things sport and in two hours taught me more about cricket than I had learned in a lifetime. I look forward to future courses (particularly rugby now that I live in NSW), and I recommend Know The Game to individuals and organisations wanting to brush up on their sporting knowledge. Michael Field, Strategic Marketing Consultant, Michael Field Pty Ltd
Even though I have been in Australia for 16 years and have been to a number of AFL games and followed the sport to enable me to better integrate into the Australian culture there were many things about the game that I did not know. I have to say that I enjoyed this year's grand final more than any other because I could understand the rules and subtle nuances of the game. Hazel Thompson, Director, Excelerator Pty Ltd
I heard about Know The Game and thought of all those times I have politely nodded pretending to know what the guys at work are talking about, and that time I went on a date to the footie and cheered at the wrong moment....then I went to the Rugby Union and AFL seminars by Know The Game. What a fantastic idea - I learnt so much and have already been impressing my friends and colleges with my ability to talk sports with the boys! Thanks Paula for a professional, informative, fun and very clever insight into the power of knowing the game! Kate Zarboch, Director, Escargot. Co
I have been in Australia for over 20 years and was never able to understand what the big fuss was about Melbourne Cup. Now I am looking forward to enjoying the race day and thanks to Paula, I will be able to place a bet not just by choosing the pretty colours of the horse! The seminar was fun and interesting and I look forward to doing more. Thank you Paula. Lillian Ajuria, Principal, Ajuria Lawyers
Thank you Paula for running such an enjoyable and informative session on Spring Racing. Having been a regular at the races for some time, I found it fascinating to discover how much I did not know about the sport and how much more I got out of the Carnival experience this year from knowing these things. The session was well-run and the information provided was up to date, relevant and most of all genuinely interesting. It also helped me back a winner! I am looking forward to signing up to the next event! Alice Tiller, Acting HR Manager, PKF Chartered Accountants & Business Advisers
I loved the AFL workshop and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to know the game. Paula's knowledge of AFL and the way she communicates this knowledge in an engaging and non-confronting manner is fantastic. Her enthusiasm for the game was infectious and I could not wait to watch an AFL game after the workshop (one of the prelim finals). It was great to be able to discuss the game after the workshop with other people and best of all, for the first time ever, I knew something about a sport that my other half didn’t! Paula has created an AFL enthusiast (from someone who was a complete couch potato that is an achievement). I am looking forward to getting a 2011 Sydney Swans membership.
